LADIES: Shannon Gaels senior ladies meet Clann na nGael in the county senior championship semi final next Saturday 7th September. Time & Venue to be confirmed. Please watch social media for updates. Support would be greatly appreciated. This group of ladies came through the quarter final v Padraig Pearses in what can only be described as the game of the decade. Missing 4 of their starting players the others stepped up to the plate and served the huge crowd of specators a thriller on home soil. The sun shone on Croghan pitch as the Gaels went to the dug out at half time 11 points down. Our lovely new scoreboard was shinning out with vengeance and the home supporters were sure all was lost. Our ladies had other things in mind. They dug deep and young new players combined with our older more experienced players to finally bring it level at full time. The rules dictated that we had to have a result on the day so after 7 minutes of catching their breath the girls shook the cramps and tiredness off and gave us 20 more minutes of heart stopping football. Shannon Gaels finally ran out winners by 6 points. Well done to Pearses for a great game. Our U16 girls had a nice victory over Kilbride in Croghan last Tuesday.
